    Adobe Illustrator/Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop are no longer stand-alone products. However they are now bundled with Adobe Creative Cloud, licensed to UCLA users by Software Central. You can contact UCLA Software Central to see about a subscription service to Adobe Creative Cloud, an online software package that can be licensed for users and/or devices.

    IDL

Note that you will need to sign in with your Physics & Astronomy LDAP credentials. For information about obtaining an LDAP account, please click here.

Update September 12, 2018: We recently were asked to update IDL to version 8.7, which required us to update the IDL license server to version 8.7, which uses a different software. Because of this, we were forced to move the IDL server to a newer server. Normally this would be a transparent process to everyone, except in this case, people running versions earlier than 8.7 need to still use the old server, while those running 8.7 need to point to the new server.

Because of how this was done, you will need to adjust your license server settings in either case. We are happy to do this for you if you send a helpdesk request with the name of your computer. We can upgrade your IDL to 8.7 as well (and keep an older version too if you need it). If you want to attempt to fix it yourself, here are the settings that are needed:
IDL versions earlier than 8.7 license server: 1700@license1.pa.ucla.edu
IDL version 8.7 (and future versions) license server: 7070@idl.pa.ucla.edu
Future upgrades should be easier once everyone has upgraded to at least 8.7.

    SolidWorks 2019

We have a 5000-seat license for the entire campus.  If you wish to use it off-campus, you must connect to the P&A VPN first or else the license server will not be able to be contacted. Solidworks is Windows-only so you will need a Windows virtual machine for Macs.

    LABVIEW

The department maintains a site-license for LABVIEW, which is available to research groups who have paid a $480 recharge.

    Supermongo

The Astronomy department has a volume license for Supermongo.

AutoDesk licensing is handled on an individual/group level. There is no Department-wide initiative. Campus has an agreement in place and you can get more info (& purchase) via UCLA Software Central:
